The Bufu's Staff (Japanese: ブフーの杖) is a Staff in 
Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer.
When swung, it will shoot a magic bolt that will turn its Monster target into its respective 
As they would usually when defeated, occasional items and special drops will fall on the ground when monsters are turned into Meat.
The Meat will fall in the square where the Monster was standing.
When Shiren is hit by the magic bolt they will gain the 'Riceball' status. This can happen by:
- The magic bolt being reflected by an Air Devil Family Monster.
- The magic ability of a Skull Wraiths and Skull Demons with a Bufu effect.
Limitations
Special Enemies and Characters cannot be turned into Meat and the staff bolt or thrown staff will have no effect on them. These include:
- Shopkeepers
- Guard Dogs
- Sheriffs
- The Tainted Insect
- Tainted Soldiers
- The Tainted Queen
- The King of the Kigny
Adventure Log Entries
Adventure Log entry #12 is satisfied when the Bufu's Staff [4] is received from Naoki the Wandering Chef at the end of the Naoki and The Cliffs Quest. The Bufu's Staff [0] or Bufu's Staves received as Rescue Reward Items do not satisfy this task.
Tips For Use
- Turning a Monster into Meat essentially defeats the monster without an Experience reward.
- Monster Meat opens up many brand-new opportunities for strategy and general gameplay. See the Monster tables and individual monster family pages for information on which monsters are the most useful to turn into Meat.
- Throwing a Bufu's Staff at an Air Devil will turn them into meat, and when Sealed, magic bolts will affect them
Locations
Special: Prior to completing The Cliffs Restaurant Quest, Bufu's Staves cannot be found anywhere in the game. Naoki the Wandering Chef gives the player a Bufu's Staff[0] to collect Mamel Meat, and will continue to do so every adventure that you meet until you deliver him the Meat. He will also give the player a Bufu's Staff[4] one as a reward at the end of the quest.
