The Special Riceball (Japanese: 特製おにぎり) is Shiren's primary food source and has been since the original Super Famicom release of Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer. It restores 30 Fullness when eaten and if eaten when full will add 1% to Shiren's maximum fullness. Special Riceballs add a beneficial Status Abnormality to Shiren, they can be any one of the following.
- Will not lose fullness while on the floor.
- Grants the 'Auto Identify' status, which identifies all picked up Items.
- Grants the 'Poison-free' status, which prevents strength from being lost to poisons.
- Grants the 'Wide awake' status, which prevents sleep while on the floor.
- Fully recover HP.
- Max Strength +1. If the current strength is lower than the maximum, +1 to the current strength.
- Grants 'Silent Movement' status, originally sleeping monsters won't wake up when walking near them.
