This Venting Jar page is about the Nintendo DS release. For the Super Famicom release, see Shiren 1 SFC:Stress-Relieving Pot.
For the lore page, see Shiren:Venting Jar.

The Venting Jar (Japanese: うっぷんのばらしの壺) is a Jar in Template:GameTitle.

Inserting

Inserting an item into a Venting Jar will have no direct effect on the item. However, it will put the item at risk of being permanently lost (see Throwing, below). The only way to remove items from a Venting Jar is by using an Extraction Scroll, or by having a Curse put on the jar.

Unlike other Jars, using an Extraction Scroll to remove the contents of a Venting Jar will not deplete its spaces to 0.

Throwing

Throwing a Venting Jar will cause the Jar to explode in a 3x3 area centered on the first object or wall it hits. This explosion is similar to a Big Landmine Trap, as Shiren will be left at 1 HP or with a Blast Shield or Shield with that Seal, will take damage equal to half Shiren's current HP.

Other than Shiren, most Monsters, object, or wall section caught in the explosion will be destroyed. Shiren will not gain Experience from monsters defeated in the explosion. A cursed venting jar will not explode, and can be thrown safely.

Caution

Inferno Family Monsters will duplicate from a Venting Jar's explosion.

Tips For Use

  • Equip a Pitcher's Armband and throw it through a Monster House.
  • The Venting Jar makes Identifying jars more risky, as all inserted items will be destroyed while the means of retrieving them may not be accessible. Additionally, when attempting to retrieve items, believing the jar may be a Melding Jar, throwing the item close to a wall will damage Shiren in the resulting explosion, making the player vulnerable to any monsters that enter the room.
