The Power Up Scroll (Japanese: パワーアップの巻物) is a scroll introduced to the Super Famicom release of Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer DS. Reading a Power Up Scroll will grant Shiren the 'Enhanced' status, which increases overall damage dealt on the current dungeon floor. This increases Weapon damage, damage from reading a Blastwave Scroll, damage from eaten and thrown Dragon Herbs, damage monsters take from some Traps and damage from thrown and fired objects (including Gitan after the value has been divided by 10).

You can read multiple Power Up Scrolls on a single level to further increase your damage:

  1. x1.5 damage
  2. x1.75 damage
  3. x2.00 damage
  4. x2.25 damage
  5. x2.50 damage
  6. x2.75 damage
  7. x3.00 damage
  8. x3.25 damage

Scrolls read beyond the 8th one have no increased effect.

Tips for use

  • Avoid consuming any Monster Meat as this will remove the 'Enhanced status' which would normally persist for the entire time Shiren is on that floor.
  • Read Power Up Scrolls before using a Blastwave Scroll. As this scroll normally does an average of 29 damage which is unlikely to defeat high level monsters. Multiplying this damage can significantly weaken many monsters at once, if not defeat them. Take into account that 29 damage is an estimate and may vary as blastwave damage is impacted by monster defense.
