This Scroll of Removal page is about the Nintendo DS release. For the Super Famicom release, see Shiren 1 SFC:Scroll of Removal.
For the lore page, see Shiren:Scroll of Removal.

The Scroll of Removal (Japanese: ジェノサイドの巻物) is a Scroll in Nintendo DS Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer.

Shiren 1 DS Monsters Schubell Fail Message.png

Throwing a Scroll of Removal at a Monster will seal away that entire monster family from appearing during the current adventure (until Shiren returns to Canyon Hamlet).

Sealed away monsters will no longer spawn where would previously and will not appear when summoned by Schubell Family Monsters and Skull Wizards can no longer transform entities into that monster when it was previously possible.

Only one monster family can be removed at a time. Throwing a second Scroll of Removal at a different monster will remove that family, but the previous type will return.

Adventure Log Entries

Adventure Log entry #24 requires the player to 'Read the Scroll of Removal'.

Limitations of Use

As they are not monsters, Characters cannot be sealed away by a Scroll of Removal (the item still disappears as it is used). However, party members that have joined Shiren can be sealed away.

Shiren 1 DS Scroll of Removal Fail Message.png

Special Enemies such as Shopkeepers, Sheriffs and Guard Dogs can be sealed away, though it will only be for the current floor, and they will return on another floor.

Removed monster families can still appear by consuming or throwing Monster Meat.

Tips For Use

  • Read the first Scroll of Removal you find to:
    • Be able to write 'Removal' on Blank Scrolls, which are more common.
    • Earn the Adventure Log #24.

Popular monsters for sealing away

Caution

Thrown Scrolls of Removal can miss the target monster. Think ahead and do not rely on them to save you as a last resort. Creating a Scroll of Need from a Blank Scroll can be more helpful as it will fully heal Shiren, and Paralyze all adjacent monsters.
