Shiren 1 DS:Warehouse
Warehouses (Japanese: ???) are special buildings found in Kobami Valley in Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer where items are stored when not being carried in the player's inventory. They allow Shiren to store Items without them disappearing, indefinitely or for another adventure.
Items can be placed on floor squares inside a warehouse, will save whereas items placed on the ground in towns or in dungeons, will disappear when leaving the area. Unlike other Shiren games, the warehouses in Shiren 1 cannot be expanded in size.
Similar to the doorway and adjacent two spaces of a Shop, items cannot be placed down in the entrance of a Warehouse.
Commonly, players fill their warehouses with
There are 3 warehouses overall that Shiren can make use of, two of which are available since beginning of the game, and the last requires an action to be done to unlock its usage.

Couriers
On floors 8 - 14 of Table Mountain, a Character called the Courier can be found, and is able to deliver one inventory item, including Jars containing multiple items, to the warehouse in a predetermined location.
- Canyon Hamlet
- Mountaintop Town
- Cryptic Rock Valley
If there are no empty spaces in the warehouse specified, no items can be sent there. Items will still be delivered if the Courier is killed, as long as the delivery was arranged beforehand.
Storehouse Jar
When items are inserted into a Storehouse Jar, they will be placed on the floor of the warehouse in Canyon Hamlet, making this jar indispensable for preserving valuable items in a dangerous situation. If the Canyon Hamlet warehouse has no empty spaces, the items will not be transported and will be placed on the floor at Shiren's feet.
Exploiting Warehouses
In the Nintendo DS port of Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer, the Warehouse in Canyon Hamlet can be used, in conjunction with The Final Puzzle to do the following:
Identifying Storehouse Jars
When items inserted into a jar disappear, it is either a
Obtain Rare Items from Any Dungeon
Many rare and exciting items are found in dungeons, notable items exclusive to the Final Puzzle. With this method, whatever Shiren is holding can be safely taken back to Canyon Hamlet without completing the adventure:
- Enter any dungeon on a new adventure, and be defeated on floors 2 - 4
and request a Rescues. - From the game menu, select 'Awaiting Rescue' and 'Adventure while awaiting rescue'.
- From the Canyon Hamlet warehouse, choose to adventure in the same dungeon you fell. Adventure normally, picking up items as you go, and because you cannot adventure past where you were defeated, you will be brought back to the warehouse.
- Store the items you want to keep, and re-enter the same dungeon as many times as desired. When you want to stop, select 'quit' and 'give up waiting to be rescued' from the game menu.
The Final Puzzle is a usual destination and a popular item obtainable by this method is the Strengthening Jar.
Recycling Jars of Change
Aside from the common basic items, a
With a copy of Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer on a physical console, the warehouse in Canyon Hamlet can be used to recycle a single Jar of Change until desired items are obtained:
Empty your inventory and prepare some 'trash' items in the warehouse
- Place an empty Jar of Change in the warehouse. Preferably one with 5 slots.
- Exit the warehouse so that the contents save with the 'Saving Warehouse data' message.
- Enter the warehouse and insert the 'trash' items into the Jar of Change. Do not leave the warehouse.
- Turn off your Nintendo DS. Do not press 'quit' to save.
- Restart Shiren 1 and enter the warehouse. The Jar of Change will be completely unscathed and ready to use again. Repeat until desired items are obtained.
This method can be done in any warehouse, but the one in Canyon Hamlet is most convenient as after 'the save data is corrupted' message shows, Shiren will spawn inside 'The Travelling Crow' Inn, next to the warehouse.
Storing Stolen Items (Mountaintop Town)
Entering a warehouse will not remove Shiren's thief label after stealing from the shop in Mountaintop Town, but gives the player an opportunity to safely store their items, or prepare to fight Sheriffs and Guard Dogs.
Trivia
- The warehouse in Canyon Hamlet says "warehouse" on its sign, however, it is called a "storehouse" by the Warehouse Guard.
- They also mention that there are storage centers in other locations. Similarly, the warehouse in Mountaintop Town is called a "Storage Center" by both its sign and the Guard though the message "You can leave items in the Warehouse" is shown when entering, as with the warehouse in Cryptic Rock Valley.
- The Storehouse Jar is also called a "Warehouse Jar" by the Warehouse Guard in Canyon Hamlet.
