The Original Monster Families are the 45 Monster Families that debuted in  Mystery Dungeon 2: Shiren the Wanderer in 1995. Monsters usually had 3 levels, unlike the customary 4 monster families of later games. However, some monster families only have 1 or 2 levels, such as the Air Devil (1), or the Baby Tank (2).

Rice Changer Family

The Rice Changer Family, consisting of:

Unlike other monster families when they gained a fourth level, the Rice Changer became the level 2 form, and a new monster the Rice Baby was added to the front of the lineup.
