Celebi (Japanese: セレビィ, Celebi) is a character in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series. She made her debut appearance in  Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Darkness in 2007. She's the first instance of a Shiny Pokémon in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon.

Celebi is friends with Grovyle, and, prior to the loss of their memory, the Explorers Hero.

Background Information

Celebi was originally green, and Kunimi Kawamura decided that she should be pink for a variety of reasons. Kawamura did not want Celebi and Grovyle to be the same color, thought that Celebi should look special; that her appearance should reflect her usage of female language, and wanted to distinguish her from the Celebi that had previously appeared in a Pokémon anime movie. Writer Shin'ichiro Tomie commented that Celebi's romantic feelings for Grovyle came to him naturally as he was writing the dialogue. The dialogue was originally less subtle about Celebi's feelings, and was revised to allow players to come to that conclusion on their own. Tomie was surprised when the other developers called Celebi "Tsundere".
