Voice of Life
命の声
The Voice of Life (Japanese: 命の声) is a recurring character in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series. He is a manifestation of everything in nature, and has the power to take on any form, communicate telepathically, and bring humans to the Pokémon world. His knowledge goes beyond that of the world he lives in, to the point of breaking the fourth wall and addressing the player directly rather than the Hero Characters. In all of his appearances he is seen taking on the temporary form of the Pokémon Hydreigon (Japanese: サザンドラ). He is most often referred to by the name of this species, and even shares some of the characteristics of the species.
Biography[edit | edit source]
Role[edit | edit source]
The Voice of Life acts to prevent the destruction of the Pokémon world by the Bittercold by calling humans from the human world for help, as they are unaffected by the Bittercold. While Hydreigon is trying to communicate with one of the humans, Munna hijacks the telepathic communication to make Hydreigon look like a villain chasing her, and asks the main character to help in stopping him. When Hydreigon eventually meets the human, he manages to explain the situation to him. Hydreigon is later frozen and shattered to pieces by Kyurem, who warns them to not interfere with the fate of the Pokémon world. After the human destroys the Bittercold, Hydreigon decides to appear again and brings the human back to the human world, which is supposed to erase everyone's memories of him in the process. However, the other Pokémon managed to defy fate once again, remembering his existence. Eventually, Hydreigon explains that there could be a way for the human's partner to express a wish at the Worldcore to let the human come back. Hydreigon also explains that there are other Voices of Life in other parts of the world.
Physical appearance[edit | edit source]
The Voice of Life's real physical appearance is unknown, and it's not known if he even has one. He has chosen to appear as a Hydreigon.
Personality[edit | edit source]
Hydreigon often jokes around and likes to eat lots of food. This is common for the Pokémon Hydreigon, but it's unknown if it's a result of the form he's taken, or if he's taken on the form of a Hydreigon because it fits his personality.
