Pkmn:Hero

Heroes are Characters in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series who are generally controlled by players, or are incarnations of the player-characters. Heroes are usually Humans-turned-Pokémon that are accompanied by a Partner Character, whom they travel with, run their Teams alongside, and who often act as their introduction to the Pokémon World.

Heroes can be either Male or Female, and can range from a variety of different species in the games. In other media, their incarnations are selected from those available in the games at the time, though they tend to be a Pokémon species new to that game.

Rescue Team

Rescue Team Hero

The Rescue Team Hero is a Human-turned-Pokémon who wakes up in a forest, greeted by their soon-to-be partner, where they rescue a local Caterpie at the behest of his mother. Afterwards, they form a Rescue Team, perform random and often unrelated tasks, and ultimately request Rayquaza to save the Pokémon World from destruction by a Meteor.

Ginji's Rescue Team

Ginji is the incarnation of the Rescue Team hero in Template:Ginji'sRescueTeamTitle. He's a young school boy who is temporarily transformed into a Pokémon, forms a partnership with a local Mudkip. The plot loosely follows that of the games, up to the point where they defeat Groudon alongside Team A.C.T., and Ginji is turned back into a human.

• This is the only known instance of the ironically-named Team A.C.T. ever actually doing anything.
• Ginji was allowed to keep his Team Badge, or a copy of it, proving it wasn't all a fever dream. This is the only known instance of a character returning to the Human World, let alone with a memento.

Go-Getters

Squirtle is the incarnation of the Rescue Team Hero in Template:Go-Getters Title. Squirtle is depicted with two partners, which is unusual. Squirtle, Charmander, and Chikorita all team up and save Pichu and Pikachu from Skarmory.

Other Incarnations

The Rescue Team Hero is portrayed by a Totodile in a North American commercial, a Pikachu in the Template:RescueTeamDemoTitle, and a Squirtle in the animated short.

Explorers Titles

Explorers Hero

The Explorers Hero is a Human-turned-Pokémon who wakes up on a beach, greeted by their soon-to-be partner, where they rescue a local Relic Fragment at the behest of its owner. Afterwards, they form an Exploration Team where they perform rescues, ultimately saving the Pokémon World from destruction by collecting gears made of time.

The Adventure Squad Hero is a Pokémon chosen from a selection of species by the player. However, unlike other games, the Hero character is ultimately whatever species the player is currently in control of, and it doesn't have any impact on the gameplay or lore if they change species.
