Alakazam (Japanese: フーディン, Foodin) is a character in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series. He made his debut in Game Boy Advance/Nintendo DS Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Team in 2006.

Alakazam is the leader Team A.C.T., a Gold Rank Rescue Team. He's considered to be strong and powerful by the Pokémon of Pokémon Square, as well as himself, as he apparently doesn't know of any rank higher than Gold, despite the fact that Alakazam looks up to Lucario, who is the namesake of the maximum rank in the original Red and Blue Rescue Team titles.

Biography

Physical Appearance

Personality

Alakazam is often boastful to other Rescue Teams. During the events of the Rescue Team titles, he consistently talks down to the Rescue Team Hero and their Partner, despite them proving time and time again that they're far more capable than his own team.

When the duplicitous Gengar of Team Meanies claimed that the Hero was the cause of the recent natural disasters, Alakazam, and his team show up at their base to intimidate them, giving them a day head start. Alakazam's head start is presumably to enjoy the chase, as there's no sensible reason to allow a Pokémon suspected of being a threat to the world to escape. Despite his day head start, he never went to Xatu to verify Gengar's claims. When he finally catches up to the Hero and their Partner, he and his team attack on sight and are only temporarily discouraged by Ninetales.

History

Rescue Team Titles

Throughout the events of the Rescue Team titles, he never actually does anything noteworthy or impressive but manages to maintain his team's legendary impression among the Pokémon of Pokémon Square. When he and his team went on to confront Groudon, the three of them were wiped out, only to be saved by the Hero's team. He is said to have an IQ of 5,000 and to have memorized everything that has happened in the world.

When the Rescue Team hero and partner first met him, he was convincing Shiftry to take on a rescue mission to help Jumpluff. When he noticed the hero and partner, he suddenly stopped and stared at them, before leaving.

Alakazam created the Teleport Gem alongside Xatu and Gengar.

After being proven a fool twice by the Hero and their Partner, he spends the rest of his time in Pokémon Square.

Go-Getters out of the Gate

Team A.C.T. is said to be busy rescuing a Plusle and a Minun in Magma Cavern, which is why they can't go save Pikachu. Pikachu and Pichu are later saved from Skarmory by Team Go-Getters.
