The Mystery Dungeon Franchise Wiki (MDFW) aims to have both surface-level and in-depth pages on each individual topic concerning official Mystery Dungeon material. This is a help page for new users who may be confused about this wiki's structure and navigation.

Namespaces

Each major series has its own "Lore" namespace, with individual namespaces for each video game and its articles. All of these names are considered "short names", such as "Shiren 1 DS" for "Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer DS".

Wiki Landing Pages

Landing pages come in two varieties. The first are "Landing Pages", such as the Shiren the Wanderer Series Lore Landing Page, or various "Character" pages across the wiki.

Disambiguation

While the MDFW uses standard wiki "Disambiguation" pages, such as "Razor Wind, we prefer our disambiguation pages to be more educational. For example, the Pkmn:Pikachu page acts as a combination of a lore page and disambiguation. It'll tell you which Mystery Dungeon media Pikachu appears in, and give a general overview of the species' overall role, while also providing disambiguation links to each individual Pikachu character page and Pikachu as a monster in each game it appears in. The Rescue Team:Pikachu page contains every move learned by Pikachu in that specific game, the stats at each individual level, and so on. It doesn't, nor will it ever cover Rescue Team DX, as Rescue Team DX has its own namespace.

This method is used wiki-wide for every major video game and series. Barring mobile spin-off titles.

Navboxes are tables at the footers of pages, linking to all pages of a specific topic. Such as all of the towns or dungeons in a series, characters, and the like. Navbars are generally used to link to "List of" pages, such as "Shiren:List of Weapons", or "Pkmn:List of Moves (A)".

Due to the stupid way MediaWiki is programmed, large navboxes for lore pages are being phased out, as they cause immense server strain every time they're edited, and because the sheer size of having hundreds of links at the bottom of the page is visually unappealing. Lore pages with hundreds of links, such as "Shiren the Wanderer (series) Items" are being replaced by Navbars that link to the various item articles at the top of the page. The navbars themselves also cause server strain and should be edited sparingly, and only by wiki staff or with wiki staff approval.
