Redirects on the MDFW are only created when deemed necessary, to prevent them from flooding search results with duplicate links.

When to Create?

Redirects should be created when moving well-established pages that are likely to be linked across the internet, such as videogame articles, books, anime shorts, and so on.

Redirects should be created for official words or terms that have multiple spellings, to keep page formatting clean. Such as Staves > Staff, to avoid having to type > "Shiren1DS|Staff|Staves".

Redirects should be created for monster families, when applicable. Such as monster families in the Shiren the Wanderer series. This is both so they can be searched and to keep page formatting clean.

Examples:
  • Shiren 1 DS:Mamel > Mamel Family
  • Shiren 1 DS:Pit Mamel > Mamel Family
  • Shiren 1 DS:Cave Mamel > Mamel Family
  • Shiren 1 DS:Gitan Mamel > Mamel Family

Categorization

While it's possible to view every page in a namespace, and redirects are highlighted in purple, it's only possible to hide all redirects and not to view them all. Due to this oversight, we've opted to categorize our redirects to aid in keeping track of them.

Videogame redirects should be categorized under the game they're for. So redirects in the Shiren 1 DS namespace should be in the Category:Shiren 1 DS Redirects.

Articles in the lore namespaces should be in the series category at bare minimum. For page types with many redirects, such as monsters or items, they should be further categorized under a sub-category. For example, a Mamel > Mamel Family redirect should be categorized as Category:Shiren the Wanderer (series) Monster Family Redirects, and so on for items and other large groups of redirects.
