Mystery Dungeon Franchise Wiki:Manual of Style (Page Creation)

As outlined in the Project Organization article, pages should be created in the appropriate namespace. As to which namespace, that depends on the user, and the type of article being created.

Draft

Most new articles should be created in the Draft Namespace, especially those created by new and unfamiliar editors, using the following format: Draft:Future Namespace:Article Name. So if a player were to create a monster houses article for Nintendo DS Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky, they should create: Draft:Explorers of Sky:Monster House.

Singular Titles

Namespaces aside, articles should be created in a singular form of the title, in most instances. Such as "Weapon" instead of "Weapons" or "Trap" instead of "Traps". This is due to our standards regarding formatting being as clean for editors as it is for readers. On "Leaf Pages", for example, they all link back to the main article. For example, a Shiren the Wanderer series article may say that "Razor Wind" (Japanese Name) is a Weapon in the Shiren the Wanderer series, with "weapon" being a link to the weapon article. Should we create plural names, we would either have to create hundreds of singular-name redirects, or type links out such as {{Shiren1DS|Weapon|Weapon}}, which is undesirable. Additionally, should we want to make a singular page link plural, all we have to do is add the appropriate letter(s) on the end. Such as {{Shiren1DS|Weapon}}s, which displays as Weapons.

Meta

Back on the topic of namespaces, the Meta namespace covers all things from the "real world", which is to say, everything but video game info and lore. This encompasses anime shorts, books, events, promotional videos, video games, topics such as Fan service and consoles, such as the Super Famicom or the Nintendo DS.

Lore

While there isn't a namespace using the name lore, there are 5 different lore namespaces on the wiki. These were created for the 5 major series:

  • Dragon Quest
  • Shiren the Wanderer
  • Final Fantasy
  • Pkmn (Pokémon)
  • Etrian Odyssey

The 5 major series all have a lore namespace that acts as both a place to document the series lore, as well as act as video game disambiguation. For example, many articles will feature the "For/About" templates.

The About template is used to denote "This article is about (Game), if you're looking for the (original version, remake, remaster, port, etc.), see: Other link.
The For template is primarily used to link to the lore namespace, such as how the Shiren 1 DS:Fluffy Bunny Family has the template {{For|the lore page|Shiren:Fluffy Bunny Family}}, which links to the lore/disambiguation for the Fluffy Bunny Family. There, you'll find official artwork, sprites, and which games it appears in, as well as links to their respective articles. Additionally, they'll feature other important aspects to understanding characters, locations, histories, character personalities, and lore revealed across multiple games.

Video Game

The final group is the video game namespaces. Each major video game has its own namespace, wherein all of its articles are contained. Generally, everything encompassing gameplay should be stored here. This includes articles for controls, cheat codes, menu translations, Rosetta Stones, and so on.

Character Articles

While the video game namespaces do feature character articles, such as Latios in the Rescue Team namespace, or the Surala article in the Shiren 1 DS namespace, these articles are limited in comparison to their lore counterparts. The Shiren 1 DS Surala article only covers information related to its game, while the lore namespace encompasses Shiren 1 SFC, Shiren 1 DS, Shiren 1 SP, Save Surala, and any future titles she might appear in. Additionally, the video game articles cover dialogue transcripts, while the lore namespaces do not.

In some cases, characters are only mentioned in the lore and don't make an appearance in the games. These characters, such as Lucario in the Rescue Team games, or Genba Dotanuki in the Shiren the Wanderer series don't have video game articles, and only have lore articles.
