Mystery Dungeon Franchise Wiki:Manual of Style (Localized Names)

MDFW - The Mystery Dungeon Tree of Information.

Many localized names across the Mystery Dungeon franchise differ with each release. Our usual preference is to use the earliest official English localization, as they've been established the longest and we don't have to rename thousands of articles or correct thousands of links every time a new localization is released and a name is arbitrarily changed.

The MDFW standard is as follows: Earliest Official English Translation > Later Translations (Should they exist, and differ from the earliest official English translation.) > Unofficial Translation Patches > Unofficial Translations not from patches > Nothing.

We generally prefer these unofficially translated names to not be used in the lore namespaces or for other videogame articles. The only exceptions are monsters, items, characters, locations, etc. that don't have a single official English-translated name. In those instances, we feel it is prudent to use the name readers are most likely to be familiar with.
