Personality
Name Etymology
- In Japanese, Tatsumi is spelled using two kanji, one that means dragon,[1] and one that means sea.[2]
- Suiryu is a combination of two Japanese words, meaning water dragon.[3][1]
History
Shiren 6
Several years in the past, Tatsumi was attacked by Kokatsu, who thought she was making people sad by making it rain too much. To stop her, Kokatsu trapped her spirit, and used Jakaku to keep her trapped. While she was trapped on the sea, land began to form on top of her, becoming a part of her body, and attracting pirates who were looking to hide their treasures.
When Tatsumi learns of Shiren and Koppa and how they helped the Golden Condor at Table Mountain and freed Moonlight Village from Orochi, she appears to them asking for help. Shiren and Koppa had previously heard rumors of treasure hidden in Jakaku's belly, but didn't give them much credit until they saw Tatsumi. Eventually, the two free Tatsumi, who then begins to float in the sky, making it rain both water and a part of the pirate's treasure.
Eventually Tatsumi asks Shiren and Koppa to reason with Kokatsu, and brings them to him. After defeating the Tatsumi and her Kappa Squad, Shiren and Koppa then help the two siblings get along, understanding that they need to work together if they want to reach their common goal of making people happy with their rain and sunlight powers.
After Tatsumi hears from Kokatsu about how fun it was to fuse with Shiren and have an adventure together as Kokatsu Shiren, Tatsumi decides that she wants to do it too, but she is too shy to ask Shiren directly.
Kron's Sacred Tree grew on Serpentcoil Island on what is supposed to be the bellybutton of Tatsumi's physical form. Tatsumi claims to be mad at the tree, and asks the Sacred Tree for a wish as compensation, the wish being to fuse with Shiren and have an adventure. The tree grants the wish, and at the same time inadvertently reveals it to everyone even though Tatsumi wanted to keep it a secret. Tatsumi and Shiren then begin to adventure as Tatsumi Shiren.
Family
Tatsumi is the older sister of Kokatsu.
