The Air Devil (Japanese: エーテルデビル) Monster Family in Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer consists of:
When visible to the player, Air Devil family monsters appear as beings of spiraling smoke with what can be interpreted as a masked face. The color of the smoke and mask depends on the monster's level:
There are also minute changes in the mask's eye color, though this is barely noticeable. When attacking, their smoke-like bodies morph into a tornado, hitting its target and coming back to their original position.

When inflicted with the Sealed Status, Air Devil Family Monsters no longer can no longer fly over water or chasms, are no longer Invisible, and no longer reflect Staff magic. They are still normally immune to traps without reading a Super Trap Scroll.
Because the main AI of Air Devil Family Monsters isn't set to attack Shiren, they spend their time wandering and barely attack Shiren. Sometimes, the player may find that there is an entity blocking them in certain directions, or they are being attacked by "someone".
The player can either ignore this, and move in a different direction, or attack in random directions to find the Air Devil Family monster-this can be done in minimal turns with the use of a Razor Wind or a Weapon with that Rune.
Unless they are blocking a hallway, ignoring an Air Devil Monster is easy in practice as even a level 4 monster does only ~31 damage, and can lose interest in Shiren quickly, though it can be very frustrating when they continue attacking while concealed.
Alternatively, they can be defeated using items, such as thrown Gitan, Arrows or Scrolls.
Staves are not recommended to be used against Air Devil monsters for combat purposes. When a Staff is swung at an Air Devil monster, the resulting bolt will be reflected back at Shiren. However, when a Staff is thrown, the Air Devil monster will take the effect of the Staff.

Eating Air Devil Meat will turn Shiren Invisible, and therefore will be able to search the floor undetected for the stairs to escape. As always, when Shiren is transformed, Traps will not be triggered and so Shiren can move throughout the floor without worry.
Air Devil Family meat is extremely useful for occasions where there are many powerful enemies on a floor that the player wants to defeat but does not want to want to risk being killed, such as Monster Houses. As an Air Devil monster, the player is invisible and is, therefore, able to attack any monsters without being detected or attacked back. This is an ideal strategy for clearing out Monster Houses, as the items contained within that room will remain unscathed.
