Notice Symbols used to denote the status of a translated name.

Across the Mystery Dungeon Franchise Wiki we use various Notice Symbols in an effort to spread awareness and prevent the spread of misinformation. Each one uses a different color to make differentiating them easier. Due to the possibility of some users being colorblind or having color-deficient vision, we've also chosen distinctly different shapes as well. As with links, notice symbols are only applied to the first mention of a name on a page, excluding when the name is mentioned inside tables or templates.

Constructed Translation Symbol

The symbol indicates that the name is constructed or pieced together from official localization, such as Donjon mystère : Shiren le voyageur, which was pieced together from the French eShop description of / Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island by Adkuate.

Mismatched Translation Symbol

The symbol indicates that while the name is official, it is improperly used in the specified instance.

An example is the unofficial translation patch for  Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer 2 - Shiren's Castle and the Oni Invasion.

The Chow ^{Lv. 1} was referred to as the Snacky, which is the earliest official English name for the level 2 monster in the family.

Another example is how the Dragon in  Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer 3 - The Sleeping Princess and the Karakuri Mansion is improperly named "Floor Dragon", which is a name from another monster family not even present in the game.

Not Translated Symbol

Not Translated Symbol.

The symbol indicates that while the media in question hasn't been officially translated, the translation is officially used elsewhere.

An example of this is the title for the game  Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer GB2 - Magic Castle of the Desert. While the English title has been used in official media in some instances, the game itself has never been officially released in English. It's our way of saying "This name is official, despite the media in question not having been translated."

Sourced Name Symbol

Sourced Name Symbol.

The symbol indicates media names that are official, but not used in any video games, anime shorts, or manga. These names were sourced from art books, surveys, interviews, merch, etc.

Unofficial Name Symbol

Unofficial Name Symbol.

The symbol indicates words or terms that don't have a known official name in any language and have been created by editors in order to document the franchise. For example, Item Storage in  Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer DS2 - Magic Castle of the Desert. Magic Castle contains both a Warehouses and Storehouses, and so "Item Storage" was instead coined to cover both aspects of item storage in the game.

Unofficial Translation Symbol

Unofficial Translation Symbol.

The symbol indicates an unofficial translation.

An example of this is the Rock Head Family in the Shiren the Wanderer series, which has never appeared in any officially localized or licensed media in English.
