Wish Cave (Japanese: ねがいの　どうくつ) is a post-credits dungeon in Game Boy Advance/Nintendo DS Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Team. It is unlocked by accepting a mission to rescue Medicham.

Jirachi sleeps on the final floor. It is the first dungeon in the series to have the requirements of all Pokémon entering the dungeon to be at level 1. The dungeon also forces the player to quicksave before entering.

Plot

To unlock Wish Cave, first finish the main storyline. Complete some missions and have access to Sky Blue Plains. Talk to Ekans and Medicham several times over the next few days. Once they stop appearing, check the bulletin board and accept the mission to rescue Medicham from Wish Cave.

Before being able to beat the entire dungeon, you must first rescue Medicham. She's on floor 20, which is a warp area.

Wishes

After traversing through 98 Floors, the player encounters and battles Jirachi on the last floor, just waking up from a deep slumber. Unknown to who is in front of them, a boss battle ensues.

After defeat, Jirachi will wake up and ask the player to make a wish:

Wish Result
"Lots of money" The player will receive 10,000 to 18,000 Poké.
"Lots of items" The player will be granted various items that can be found in Wish Cave.
"Friend Area" Jirachi will open up a new Friend Area that cannot be accessed by any means other than Wonder Mail. If the player already has all Friend Areas, however, Jirachi will state so and ask you to make another wish.
"More Power" The player will be given a vast amount of Joy Seeds and stat-boosting drinks that Jirachi found within Wish Cave.
"Something Good?" Jirachi will grant either of the following:
  • Raise the player's team rank to the next level, and if any missions were completed, the player will receive the points and reward before being ranked up.
  • A Pokémon who has not been recruited will show up and ask to be recruited. If this Pokémon has a specific Friend Area that has not been unlocked, it will be unlocked in the process. Legendary Pokémon are not obtainable through this method.
  • If the player is at maximum (Lucario) rank and has already recruited all Pokémon, then the player will receive money.

Of the preceding wishes, the last three are most desirable since the player can easily accumulate a large sum of money on their adventures and the items given from Jirachi (via the second wish listed) are common items that can easily be accumulated elsewhere.

  • Wish Cave is one of three dungeons that sets your level back to 1 and one of the few 99-floor dungeons.
    • It is, however, the only one that is associated with the main or Post-credits plot.
