Shiren 1 DS:Fay's Puzzle: Hypnotized!

Hypnotized! (Japanese: ???) is one of the 50 Fay's Puzzles in  Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer.

Solution

1. Pick up the two Cyclops Killer and the two Fragile Shield's.
2. Equip either the two that are not cursed, or the cursed shield and non-cursed Weapons.
3. Head into the next room and pick up the four Herbs on the floor.
4. Lure one of the Gaze's out from around the corner, and have it follow you back to the corridor.
5. Drop one of the Herbs on the ground, which will allow you to use it but not allow the Gaze to force you to use it.
6. Throw your extra items at the Gazes to make the battle easier. You might want to hold off doing this until the last one.
7. You can heal by entering the corridor and holding A+B, rather than using herbs.
8. Repeat until all of the Gazes are dead.
9. Head for the Stairs!

Alternate Solution 1

At step #2 you can also equip the cursed equipment. While you do less damage, the chance of getting killed by bad luck is greatly reduced since the hypnosis won't be able to drop your equipment.

Alternate Solution 2 (best?)

Equip the cursed shield and the "good" sword. DO NOT pick up the cursed sword or you may randomly equip it. The cursed shield can't be forcibly unequipped, and will protect you from damage. The "good" Sword is much better for taking out the Gazes and if it does happen to get unequipped you can always re-equip it (sometimes Gaze will actually re-equip it for you). For additional precaution, you can also place the Medicinal Herb at your feet. That way, they aren't in your inventory and can't be forcibly eaten, but they can be eaten safely from underfoot.

Things To Be Learned

Even items that normally seem useless, like the Fragile Shield, may be useful under certain circumstances. In this case, the cursed Fragile Shield won't be unequipped by a Gaze and won't lose its upgrade value.
