Shiren 1 DS:Fay's Puzzle: Doppleganged

Doppleganged (Japanese: ???) is one of the 50 Fay's Puzzles in Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer.

Solution

Pick up the two Pickaxe and the Doppelganger Staff.
Move to the North wall, equip the Pickaxe, and dig out the wall pieces immediately North-West and North of the river, leaving only one wall segment to be removed to clear the path.
Move back to the South wall, standing next to the water.
Swing the Doppelganger Staff at one of the Knifegator across the water.
Swing again at the newly evolved Sabregator.
Repeat this for the next Sabregator (or Bladegator, depending on the battle's outcome).
Swing the Doppelganger Staff at the remaining monster (be it Sabregator or even Swordgator).
Head to the North wall and equip a Pickaxe. Use this to finish the path around the water.
Head for the Stairs (while being careful to avoid your other self).
