Natural Disasters (Japanese: 自然変動), also called Natural Calamities, are various occurences such as earthquakes, fires, and blizzards in the Pokémon World in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series. Natural disasters are said to be one of the causes that leads to the appearance of Mystery Dungeons. For example, an earthquake may open a fissure in the ground that contains a dungeon, which Pokémon might fall into, as is the case with Tiny Woods. Due to the increase of natural disasters, more Pokémon started forming Rescue Teams.

History

There used to be natural disasters in the past, however there was a substantial increase at one point.[1]

Absol is able to sense natural disasters.[2] Traps are said to appear in dungeons because of natural disasters.[3] Some have blamed Diglett for supposedly triggering earthquakes.[4] Natural disasters seemingly interfered with Pokémon's ability to evolve.[5]

Natural disasters might be connected to the Unseen Force that blows Pokémon out of dungeons.

After the Meteor was destroyed, natural disasters continued to occur, but not as often.[6]
