This Pacorepkin Family page is about the Nintendo DS release. For the Super Famicom release, see Shiren 1 SFC:Pacorepkin Family.
For the lore page, see Shiren:Pacorepkin Family.

The Pacorepkin Monster Family (Japanese: パコレプキン系, Pakorepukin Kei) in Template:GameTitle consists of:

Pakorepkon Family Monsters resemble typical ghosts in that their body ripples and flows like cloth in the air. They have a grinning jack-o'-lantern pumpkin as a head and short gloved hands reaching forwards in a ghost-like fashion. Pacorepkin Family Monsters appear to have two main colors, head, and body as well as one detail color, arms, and facial shading. Both of which depend on their level:

  1. Magma orange, moss green
  2. Olive green, purple
  3. Sky blue, black
  4. Black, jade green

With monsters levels 1 - 3 the detail color is orange though the color scheme changes for level 4 monsters and becomes red.

When attacking, a white astral projection of itself spins around, hitting its target with its back, before continuing to spin around the full circle, coming back into its original position.

Monster Ability

Pacorepkin Family Monsters can move through solid walls and can move over water and chasms.

Because they are Floating-type monsters they are normally invulnerable to Traps

While other Monsters instantly target Shiren, similar to Air Devil Family monsters, Pacorepkins move around randomly, as if confused and only sometimes choose to follow and attack.

Effect when Sealed

When inflicted with the Sealed Status, Pacorepkin Family Monsters no longer can no longer fly over water or chasms, and can no longer move through walls. They are still normally immune to traps without reading a Super Trap Scroll.

Adventure Log Entries

Adventure Log #48 requires the player to have 'Suffocated in a wall'

Reverting from a Pacorepkin Family Monster back to Shiren while inside a wall will cause suffocation, where 10 HP is lost each turn. Unless a Pickaxe or Weapon with that Seal is available, and if not for obtaining the log, intentionally doing this is not advised.

Combat Strategy

Because the main AI of Pacorepkin Family Monsters isn't set to attack Shiren, they spend their time wandering inside dungeon walls and barely attack Shiren.

There is no difference in abilities between Pacorepkin Family Monsters of all levels, though inherently, attack, defense, and HP increase with level. Even so, they are considered weak compared to other monsters, a Pacorepgod only deals an average of 38 damage to Shiren without any Shield equipped.

However, because they can move through walls it is common that they will attack Shiren from inside a wall, where without a Pickaxe or a weapon with that Seal, the player cannot fight back. This can become frustrating as the monster levels and attack power increase. If the Pacorepkin doesn't naturally lose interest in Shiren, moving away from the wall should do so or coax it out so it can be defeated.

Even if a Pacorepkin is inside the wall next to Shiren in a hallway, a Blastwave Scroll will still damage it, dealing 21 - 39 damage before the monster defense is accounted for.

Monster Type

Pacorepkin Family Monsters are also Ghost-type and Floating-type, meaning that they will take 200% damage from a weapon with a Shiren 1 DS - Weapon Rune Ghost.png seal from a Sickle Slayer, or a Shiren 1 DS - Weapon Rune Air.png seal from an Air Slayer. Additionally, a sword with both of these abilities will deal 400% damage to a Pacorepkin.

As a Ghost-type Monster, Pacorepkins will also take damage from healing items when hit by them.

Meat Strategy

While transformed as a Pacorepkin Family Monster, Shiren can move anywhere on the floor, including inside walls, and over water.

However, Pacorepkins are not the only monsters that can move through walls. High-level Death Reaper Family can also move through walls as well as at Double Speed, which can pose a certain threat to Monster-Shiren.

Escaping

Shiren can easily transform, move into a wall and be safe from most enemies while searching for the stairs.

Attacking Unharmed

By moving into a wall while transformed, most monsters will not be able to attack Monster-Shiren, which enables the player to slowly defeat them from inside the wall.
