The Blinding Herb (Japanese: 目つぶし草) is a herb in Super Famicom Torneko's Great Adventure: Mystery Dungeon(UT) - This is an unofficial translation.. This item is exclusive to the Magic Dungeon and More Magic Dungeon(UT) - This is an unofficial translation. where it is relatively common. Consuming it will inflict Torneko with the Blind status for 50 turns. Throwing it at a monster will blind them permanently. Like all Herbs and Seeds, consuming it will refill Torneko's Belly by 5%.

Tips For Use

  • Blinding Herbs are one of the three common status herbs in dungeons, and are quite powerful. The Blind status they inflict is permanent and makes monsters easy to defeat as their movement is predictable and they can't use Special Abilities. However, blinding a monster that's on an adjacent tile and facing Torneko means tanking one of their attacks before getting a chance to move out of their way. Furthermore, when against a monster facing Torneko in a hallway, blinding it will force the player to backtrack all the way out of the hallway to avoid getting hit. In these cases, confusing or terrifying the monster can be a better strategy.
  • Torneko being blind can be used to enter rooms, including Monster Houses, without waking up any monsters. They can still wake up from walking on an adjacent tile however.
  • Consuming Blinding Herbs protects Torneko against Eye Balls ability to afflict him with the Confused status. Use this as a last resort since throwing Blinding Herbs at monsters is generally a more efficient use of the item.
  • The Blind status replaces the Terrified status. Throw Blind Herbs at Metabbles to override their fleeing behavior and catch them easily. It also makes them unable to warp.
  • In the Bonus dungeon, the player is likely to consume a Blinding Herb the first time it encounters one by mistake. Being blind lasts a long time and can be dangerous as the player can't see monsters approaching. Always eat unidentified herbs away from any threats, and Torneko should avoid being killed. Other Blinding Herbs will be identified once you've eaten one.
