Blinded (Japanese: 目つぶし) is a Status Condition in Nintendo DS Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer.

Effect on Shiren

Normal blinded message

The background of the dungeon becomes pitch black and you can no longer see any Monsters, Items, Traps or the stairs. Monsters that interact with Shiren are referred to as 'someone'. It isn't possible to read Scrolls during this time either, but the floor map is still visible when under the 'blinded' status.

When walking around while blinded, rooms on the top and bottom screen maps will only update with squares that were within a 2-square radius of where Shiren walked.

Even with an Armband of Sight equipped, no icons can be seen on the floor map.

Oryu blinding Shiren.

How to get affected

  • Get hit by the magic attack of a Skull Demon that has the blinding effect.
  • Eat a Rotten Riceball and be inflicted with its blinding effect.
  • Get hit by Oryu the Blinder ability (only possible during recruitment events).

How to cure

  • Wait for ~30 turns for the effect to wear off.
  • Press a functional Chiropractic Jar.
When attempting to read a Scroll while blinded.
When successfully pressing a Chiropractic Jar
  • Eat a Herb of Sight.
  • Move to a different floor via the stairs or a Pitfall Trap.
  • Transform into a monster by consuming Monster Meat or by the magic attack of a Skull Wizard with a transform effect.

Trivia
