Evolution (Japanese: 進化) is a game mechanic in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Team. It is unlocked at the start of the Post-Credits, shortly after the credits. In order to evolve a Pokémon, the player needs to enter Luminous Cave from the Whiscash Pond area with said Pokémon as the Team Leader, as evolution can't happen anywhere else in the game. The Pokémon needs to satisfy its evolution requirements, such as reaching a certain Level or having a specific Item.
Plot
After the Meteor is destroyed, the player is informed that something weird is going on with Snubbull. When they reach the Whiscash Pond, they see Alakazam with a 'new' Pokémon. The 'new' Pokémon is Granbull, a new form taken by Snubbull after reaching Luminous Cave from an opening of the stepping rocks on the pond.
Effects
Evolution will affect the Pokémon's stat growths when leveling up, learnset and potentially its Abilities.
Restrictions and Requirements
- See also: Evolution Items

Part of this page's history has been imported from the PMD Rescue Team Wiki. On September 11, 2019, the Gamepedia Shiren the Wanderer Wiki became the Gamepedia Mystery Dungeon Wiki. As part of the unification project between Fandom and Gamepedia, we absorbed the Rescue Team Wiki and its page histories. Some pages were originally deemed unworthy of being imported and were left behind. We've since imported them with the intent to preserve the edits and history of this community and its contributions, as well as to build upon them. In some cases, these pages have been created again by editors of the MDFW, and the Rescue Team page histories were imported into them at a later date. You can check if this is the case by visiting the page's history.
