Information
Location
This Rescue Team Base page is about the Game Boy Advance and Nintendo DS release. For the Nintendo Switch release, see Rescue Team DX:Rescue Team Base.
For the lore page, see Pkmn:Rescue Team Base.

The Rescue Team Base (Japanese: きち, Base) is a location in Game Boy Advance/Nintendo DS Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Team. It is where the leader of the player's team sleeps. It is the main base for the player's Rescue Team after the fist dungeon, Tiny Woods, is completed for the first time. Later on, the hero and friends work together to renovate the base, with the help of three Mankey. The base is renovated to look like the hero's head.

Gameplay

When walking onto the bed near the end of the base, the player can save the game. After the base is renovated, the player can interact with the north-western side of the wall inside the base to look at a version of the world map that looks different from the one displayed when selecting a dungeon destination from the menu.

The world map seen inside the base.

Mailbox

There is a mailbox outside the team base. Mail and News are delivered to the mailbox if there is still space left. Trying to interact with the mailbox from the side or from behind displays a message that says it's not possible.

Appearance

Initial

Initially, the game uses one of five variations, depending on the species of the hero.

Post Reconstruction

After the base is reconstructed, the exterior resembles the hero's Pokémon species.

Decorations

Flag

A flag is outside the team base. Before the base is renovated, it is plainly a greenish-white ribbon tied onto the pole. The ribbon is the same with all different form of team bases.

Hero Flag

After the base is renovated, the flag changes to a different pattern and shape, depending on which species the hero is. The pattern somewhat is similar to the starter Pokémon's pattern/body part. For example, Eevee's flag has a similar pattern to its tail, and Squirtle's has a shell on it.

Smeargle's Flags

After clearing the mission in Howling Forest, it is possible to change the pattern of the flag by talking to Smeargle in his Friend Area, Sky Blue Plains. When the player talks to him, he will give the option of re-painting the flag. If the player selects "Yes", the flag will use a different design the next day. After going through all the different variations, when the player tells Smeargle to re-design the flag again, he will say he is out of ideas and gives the same flag after the renovation. Smeargle's flags are all rectangular in shape.

Statues

Statues of various Pokémon can be obtained. They are placed in an area to the east of the team base. These statues are all based on Pokémon that were, at the time, recently revealed, and thus not yet included in most Pokémon media, making them unique, special rewards. In Red and Blue Rescue Team it was not possible to play as these Pokémon, and these decorations served as teasers for later games. Lucario is also mentioned by Alakazam and in Congratulations - Lucario Rank!.

Rescue Team - Lucario Rank Badge art.png Part of this page's history has been imported from the PMD Rescue Team Wiki. On September 11, 2019, the Gamepedia Shiren the Wanderer Wiki became the Gamepedia Mystery Dungeon Wiki. As part of the unification project between Fandom and Gamepedia, we absorbed the Rescue Team Wiki and its page histories. Some pages were originally deemed unworthy of being imported and were left behind. We've since imported them with the intent to preserve the edits and history of this community and its contributions, as well as to build upon them. In some cases, these pages have been created again by editors of the MDFW, and the Rescue Team page histories were imported into them at a later date. You can check if this is the case by visiting the page's history.
