This article is a draft relating to the Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer (series) articles. |
The Timeline of the Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer series is hazy at best. Though there is a linear story for the eponymous protagonist and his friends and foes, the exact years are never given. While some aspects of the timeline are canonical, such as character ages in relation to each other, others, such as the years that events take place are entirely speculation based on in-game dialogue and events, primarily those of Template:GameTitle.[1]
The Story So Far
Years
- Events in Shiren 3 may indicate that the game is set in the 18 century.
- The character Millie
in Shiren 4 carries a revolver, which wasn't invented until 1831.[2] - The character Millie in Shiren 4 flies a hang glider, which weren't invented until 1891.[3]
- The character Millie in Shiren 4 claims to be travelling to Texas, which sets the timeline as far back as 1684.[4]
Locations
- The series' locations are set in feudal Japan, which was suggested by the series' scenario writer Shin-ichiro Tomie.[5]
Timeline
Speculation:
The years listed on this timeline are purely speculation and should not be considered canon. |
- ♦ 231 BCE
- Jofuku, a Taoist skilled in fortune-telling and shamanist ways, leads his people across the sea to the land of Japan. After founding Otsutsuki Village at the base of Hourai Mountain, he climbs the mountain and makes a deal with Izanami; in return, she gives him the Ochimizu and transforms him into a dragon. He is presumed to have died there, and over time he is assumed to have become a crane god watching over Otsutsuki Village.

- Shiren's ancestor quits the shogunate and goes where the wind takes him. His bloodline survives the next 1,000 years.
