Hit Point Drain (Japanese: HP減少) is a Status Abnormality in Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer.
Effect on Shiren
For every turn that passes, Shiren will lose 1 HP. Shiren will also have the effect of the No Natural Recovery status though this is not stated in the status menu.
When active, the font of the floor number, HP, Level, and collected Gitan display located at the top of the bottom screen is changed from regular white to red. The border of menus now flashes bright pink instead of plain white.
Similar statuses that also cause hit points to be lost each turn include the 'Hungry' status when Shiren's current Fullness is 0, and suffocation, where Shiren will lose 10 hit points every turn when standing inside a wall.
While 'Hungry' and under the 'Hit Point Drain' statuses, Shiren will lose 2 HP each turn. Additionally, while suffocating inside a wall and 'Hungry', Shiren will lose 11 HP each turn. Because reverting from Monster-Shiren cures the 'Hit Point Drain' status, it is not possible to have all three occurring at once.
How to get affected
A Fog Hermit Family will chant a 'strange spell' and will hit Shiren with a magic ability. The first time will inflict the 'No Natural Recovery' status on Shiren, the second time will change this status to 'Hit Point Drain'.
How to cure
- Transform into a Monster by consuming Monster Meat.
- Eat a Restorative Herb.
- Move to a different floor via the stairs or a Pitfall Trap.
- Read a Scroll of Need.
