Saving (Japanese: ???) allows the player to retain progress in Nintendo 3DS Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon.

In towns the player can save the game at any time by opening the menu. Unlike previous games, Quick Saving isn't available, and the only way for the player to save while inside a dungeon is to have the items Progress Device or Progress Device +. Using them installs a Progress Point floor tile over the current tile, saves the game and the item disappears from the bag. The player can use the floor tile to save the game on the spot while on that floor. Only one Progress Point can be installed on a given floor. Saves made using the Progress Device act like regular saves, not the Quick Saves from previous games, meaning that the player can reset at any time and restart from there until the game is saved again.

In the "Others" menu, the option "Resume from the Save Data" is present, which returns the player to the Main Menu to reload the most recent save. The player is also given the option to return to the Main Menu without saving when defeated.
