Super MD:Alliance
Alliance (Japanese: ???) is a game mechanic in Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon. It is an attack that can be used by the player to surround enemies with a party of at least two Pokémon and have each of them use a move on that turn. It is unlocked during Chapter 5: Harmony Scarves. The effects of some moves change when using during an Alliance.
Characteristics
An Alliance makes at least two of the Pokémon in the party surround the target Pokémon, attacking it with a move each on a single turn. Moves used during an Alliance deal regular damage even if the target Pokémon would normally be weak or immune to moves of the given Type. The target Pokémon doesn't faint until all the moves in the Alliance have been used. Using an Alliance decreases the Belly of every participant by 3.15.
Registration
The moves to be used by an Alliance are selected by either tapping the R button or opening the menu with the X button and opening "Alliance". After this, the player is asked to select a move for each Pokémon.
Usage
Once unlocked during the story, Alliances can be used in dungeons whenever the player has a party of at least two party members that are considered near the target, not affected by certain negative Status Conditions, and able to reach the target within a one tile radius (relevant, for example, when inside corridors). The leader is considered near the target if in front of the target Pokémon, and other party members are considered near the target if they're in the same room as the target or in a [Data needed] tile range. Once the conditions are met, the player can use an Alliance by pressing the L button, followed by the R button, and then pressing either the touch screen or the R button again to confirm.
