The Main Menu (Japanese: トップメニュ, Top Menu) is the first menu the player sees every time Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon is launched if a save file already exists. The Main Menu opens right after the title screen. If B is pressed, the game returns to the title screen.

Display

On the top screen, a card detailing the player's progress is shown, including the portrait, name, level and HP of the Hero, the current chapter, the team name, playtime, amount of Pokémon that have joined the player, rank and a set of icons that track the player's progress.

On the bottom screen, icons to access the game's features are present:

Continue: Brings the player to the core of the game, allowing the exploration of dungeon, progressing the story and doing Connection Orb missions.

Pelipper Island: Brings to a menu where a Pokémon to be used in Pelipper Island is selected, and then sends the player there. The first time this is accessed the game performs an additional small personality test.

Wonder Mail: Brings to a menu where the player can input codes or scan QR Codes to obtain items and dungeons in the game.

Jukebox: Allows listening to the Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon Soundtrack.

Change Names: Allows changing the player character's name, the partner's name and the team name at any moment.

Delete Save: Start a new game from scratch.

On the top right corner of the bottom screen another icon changes the size of the icons when touched, making them bigger or smaller.

Icons

Main menu icons are small pictures that appear on the top screen of the main menu when certain story Bosses and Special Enemies are defeated to track the player's progress. Before their defeat, the icons are displayed as question marks instead.

Background Art

Each time the main menu has loaded the game randomly selects one of five different illustrations to display on the top screen. Some of the top screen images only start appearing after the parts of the story that they represent are reached. The bottom screen always shows the same picture of a Froakie and a Chimchar standing on the hill of the big tree in Serene Village. Pressing Y hides the top screen interface, allowing the look at the illustration. The bottom screen art can also be seen on the top screen of the Wonder Mail menu.
