Shiren 6:Sacred Tree
The Sacred Tree (Japanese: 神木) is a service in /
Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island. It is found in Shukuba Beach and it is used to access dungeons, to play them as different playable characters or different gameplay modes, or to play the extended floor count versions of dungeons. Rescues cannot be requested when playing dungeons entered from the Sacred Tree, however Parallel Play data can be created and shared. It was introduced in
1.1.0, and additional content and features is added through later updates and DLC.
Modes
Normal Trial
Allows to play previously completed dungeons with different playable characters. The game saves which dungeons have been completed with which characters.
Countdown Trial
Allows to play previously completed dungeons with different playable characters and a time limit on how long the player can take to choose what to do during a turn. There are two countdown timers, a short "Turn Countdown" and a longer "Total Countdown". The Turn Countdown resets at the start of each turn. If during a turn the Turn Countdown goes below 0, the Total Countdown starts decreasing instead, and it doesn't reset between turns. The Total Countdown may partially restore when going to the next floor. If the Total Countdown reaches 0, the Adventure is over. There are three different time limit tiers that the player can choose: Novice, Veteran, and Expert. The amount of seconds in the Turn Countdown and in the Total Countdown depends on the chosen tier, and the amounts of seconds in each tier depends on the dungeon. For each completed dungeon, the game saves the "Personal Best Countdown".
Turn Trial
Allows to play previously completed dungeons with different playable characters and counts the amount of turns taken to clear the dungeon. Saves the best number of turns for each dungeon completed when playing in this mode.
Time Trial
Allows to play previously completed dungeons with different playable characters and a timer. The personal best time is saved for each dungeon completed when playing in this mode.
Challenge Trial
Allows to play previously completed dungeons with different playable characters and extra rules. The player can choose which rules apply to each Adventure.
- Complete without equipping items.
- Complete without Sumo Power.
- Complete without using Grass.
- Complete without using Scrolls.
- Complete without using Staves.
- Complete without using Pots.
- Complete without collapsing.
Monster Trial
Allows to play previously completed dungeons with Monsters as playable characters. Playable Monster families are unlocked by completing their respective Dojo Challenge, however only the individual Monster forms that have been recorded in the Notebook can be selected. The "Furthest Floor Reached" is saved for each Monster in each dungeon. Although it is possible to morph into a Monster by eating Peach Buns, the mechanics when playing as a Monster in Monster Trial are different.
In Monster Trial, defeating an enemy Monster increases the player's level by 1, which fully heals HP, and decreases Fullness by 4. Once level 99 is reached, HP stops healing, and Fullness stops decreasing. Items cannot be used normally, they can't be thrown, and the only way to put them in the inventory is to swap them with an item that already is in the inventory at the start of the Adventure. Walking on top of an item (or running on top of it and opening the menu) eats the item and restores 2 of Fullness, regardless of what item it is. Gitan can be picked up, and it goes into the regular Gitan inventory. When playing as a Monster, the player cannot talk to other characters that may be encountered in dungeons. Taking turns does not decrease Fullness or restore HP.
The Abilities of Monsters can be used, and they may have characteristics that depend on their species, such as different movement speed.
