Shiren 6:Rescue
Rescues (Japanese: 救助) are gameplay mechanic in /
Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island. Players can rescue other players who have collapsed in a dungeon, and they may also attempt to rescue themselves through the same process. This is done by replaying the same dungeon up to the point where the player originally collapsed. When attempting a rescue, the floors always use the same spawns and layouts for each given rescue, and the player that needs to be rescued is found in a Monster House. Rescues are accessed from the Top Menu and are done through the Internet. Overworld locations are skipped during rescues. Only one rescue at a time can be attempted.
Items and Gitan obtained during rescues are lost when leaving the rescue Adventure, even if it is a success. The Notebook and Adventure Log aren't updated.
When a rescue Adventure ends, whether in success or failure, the player may obtain Aid Points (Japanese: ???), which can be then used to set Rescue Aids (Japanese: ???) to make later rescues easier.
Rescues can be requested on a boss floor. When doing so, the player getting rescued is returned to the previous floor. Rescues cannot be requested while stealing.
Rescues are not region locked, however, the names of players using a different version of the game are hidden and instead shown as Far Wanderer (Japanese: ???), or the name (with blank characters in place of Japanese or Chinese characters) when the rescue is completed. If the game fails to connect to the Internet when checking the Rescue Board, the game creates an offline Rescue Board without the involvement of other players so that the feature may still be used, with all the names displaying as "NPC Shiren" (Japanese: ???). These simulated, offline, non-player requests can be for any dungeon present in the base game, but not for the ones introduced in free updates or DLC.
Rescues can be accessed for free with the game and an Internet connection. Additional subscription services are not required, regardless of the platform the player is using.
