Biography
Plot
To learn more about the quest to save Jumpluff in Red and Blue Rescue Team, see: Rescue Jumpluff.
When Shiftry is asked to save Jumpluff's friend from the rocks of Silent Chasm, it uses its leafy fans to whip up strong winds and successfully saved Jumpluff. However, the wind also tore a thundercloud into two, and Zapdos suddenly appeared in the sky. Zapdos took Shiftry away because it dared to disturb its sleep.
When Jumpuff returns to Pokémon Square, Alakazam explains to the Hero that Zapdos had been sleeping for a long time, and Shiftry's wind triggered it to wake up.
When the player reaches floor 3 of Mt. Thunder Peak, Zapdos appears, Zapdos lands in front of them and battles Team Pokémon. Upon defeat, Zapdos flees and returns Shiftry.
Zapdos will continue to remain on floor 3 of Mt. Thunder's Peak and can be re-battled. Zapdos can't be recruited until after the credits roll.
Post-credits Plot
After having recruited all three of the 'Legendary Bird Pokémon'; Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres, Alakazam will alert the player of a disturbance on Legendary Island, the home of the Birds. When the player makes their way to the friend area, the birds will inform them that their powers have awoken the guardian of the sea. The birds use their powers to create the Vortex Stone which will allow the player access to Silver Trench to confront the Guardian of the Sea, Lugia.
