Saving and Quick Saving allow the player to retain progress in Nintendo 3DS Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity. Unlike previous games, the player can save the game by opening the menu with the X button anywhere outside of a dungeon and in some halfway stop points, and when the game is resumed, the player's character will be in the same exact spot. Quick saving, which can only be done inside dungeons, works like in previous games: progress is only restored once after the quick save is used. The saved data can be deleted from the Main Menu. Save data can be carried over from the demo to the full game.
