Recruiting (Japanese: ???) in Nintendo 3DS Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity. Enemy Pokémon encountered in dungeons may join the player's team either by getting defeated or when reacting to a Gift item. Defeating a Pokémon while holding a Friend Bow or using False Swipe increases the recruitment chance.

Each Pokémon has two possible recruitment rates. One is used when the Pokémon has yet to be recruited for the first time, only before the credits. After it is recruited, or post-credits, the game uses the second recruitment rate instead.

Recruitment Methods

Defeating a Pokémon

Recruitment Rate is the rate of the chance of a Pokémon to be recruited. It can be increased in various ways.

Items

If the leader holds a Friend Bow when defeating the Pokémon, the chance to recruit the Pokémon increases by 10%.

Levels

The level of the leader when defeating the Pokémon can increase the recruitment rate. If it's between 41 and 70, it increases by 1%, and if it's between 71 and 100, it increases by 3%.

False Swipe

Defeating the Pokémon by using the move False Swipe increases the recruitment rate by [Data needed].

Using Gifts

Gifts are items to give to Pokémon instead of defeating them. They can be created at the Gift Shop in Post Town.
