Jobs (Japanese: ???) are missions that the player is tasked with completing in Nintendo 3DS Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity. Jobs are usually randomly generated, and have varying objectives and rewards or loot. When a job is accepted, it is added to the list. Regardless of whether the player succeeds or not, the job is deleted from the list once attempted. Jobs are unlocked early in the story, when the Request Board is built in Paradise Center. A job is started by talking to Azumarill and going through one of the Request Gates. Only one job can be done at a time. A job is completed by reaching the destination floor and completing the request. Rewards and loot are usually money and materials, although not all that will be obtained upon completion can be seen from the job's description. Paradise Points are obtained by completing jobs.

The first job is a rescue mission for Dunsparce at Stompstump Peak, a special job that doesn't follow the same rules as normal jobs, because it is part of the story.

Job Categories

Request Board

Jobs on the Request Board are intended for single player only.

Rescue

Punish Criminal

Catch Criminal

Challenge Letter

Multiple Challenge

Fetch Item

Recruit Reward

There are two unique jobs where the reward is the Pokémon joining the player's team. One is for Terrakion, and the other is for Cobalion.

Challenge Board

Jobs on the Challenge Board can be played in both single and multiplayer. Each player can only bring one Pokémon, even in single player. The jobs on this board are fights in a single room, which makes up the entirety of the only floor of their dungeons.

Buried Ruins

Jobs in the Buried Ruins are fights against multiple enemy Pokémon on a single floor.

Legendary bosses

Single-floor boss fights against gigantic legendary Pokémon in the dungeons Eternal Ruins, Seasound Ruins, Hoarfrost Tower, Ivory Peak, Obsidian Edge or Turbulent Tor.

Blue Magnagates

Each dungeon accessed from the "Discover a Magnagate!" mode of the game is tied to a job and follows the same job mechanics. See the Magnagates page for a more detailed explanation.

Restrictions

To start a job it is sometimes necessary that the current party meets a certain condition. A job may ask for the party to include a Pokémon of a specific type when the dungeon is entered, or that the party only has one single Pokémon. Most jobs don't have restrictions.

Differences From Entering a Dungeon Normally

When a dungeon is entered from a job, the floors the player explores are actually different from the ones explored when accessing a dungeon regularly. Because of this, some Detours can only be accessed from jobs. Additionally, the chances of Kecleon Shops appearing are different.

Each job has a fixed Mysteriosity level, which doesn't change based on an in-game day. Two jobs in the same dungeon can simultaneously have different Mysteriosity levels.

Paradise Points Obtained

Completing a mission gives the player Paradise Points, which raise the team's Paradise Rank. For the ones that have two listed, points awarded based on the difficulty may be one or the other, there is no apparent way to tell which of the two it is for a given mission without external tools.
