Dungeon Difficulty (Japanese: ダンジョンの難易度, Dungeon Difficulty) is essential information usually found in Dungeon info before entering a dungeon and Connection Orb missions in Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon.
Difficulty Range
Dungeons have a large range of difficulty, ranging from the trivial to a seemingly unbeatable challenge.
Internally in the game's code, the difficulty that's displayed is determined by a hidden point system. This point system steadily increases by 2 points for each floor in a dungeon, but doesn't have any actual effect on gameplay. The difficulty that is calculated for missions uses the number of points given to that target floor. For example, floor 20 of the Buried Ruins has 78 points, and thus it shows 6 stars for the expedition.
Difficulty Ranges
Difficulty rating in points | Difficulty rating in Stars |
---|---|
1 - 17 points | ★☆☆☆☆ |
18 - 25 points | ★★☆☆☆ |
26 - 33 points | ★★★☆☆ |
34 - 41 points | ★★★★☆ |
42 - 63 points | ★★★★★ |
64 - 99 points | ★★★★★★ |
100 - 199 points | ★★★★★★★ |
200 - 65,535 points | ★★★★★★★★ |
Difficulty Ranges for Dungeon Info
Difficulty rating in points | Difficulty rating label |
---|---|
1 - 11 points | "Normal" |
12 - 19 points | "Difficult" |
20 - 31 points | "Very Difficult" |
32 - 65,535 points | "Super Difficult" |
Stars for missions on the Connection Orb range from a fairly accurate 1 - 8 stars, while dungeons themselves only use 4 labels for difficulty, being far more arbitrary. There are no means to view that dungeon's difficulty in a more precise way except through certain quests for it, which cannot be reviewed once completed.
