Blessings (Japanese: 祝福) are an Item condition in Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer series. Blessings are the counterpart to the Curse mechanic and are usually denoted with a bell icon next to their names.
During gameplay, most blessed items have additional bonus effects that vary based on item type, and the items themselves. For example: A blessed Drought Scroll in Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer 3 - The Sleeping Princess and the Karakuri Mansion will dry out all waterways on the players current floor, as well as the next floor. While a Trapkiller Scroll will delete all destructible traps and special tiles on the current floor, and prevent new ones from being made.
Blessings may fade after several uses, or they may be a permanent addition depending on the item category. A Soaked Scroll might lose its blessing when it dries out on the next floor, a Revival Herb will lose its blessing after being used once, and Stones will retain their blessing until the stack runs out.
Blessed items can be obtained through various methods:
- Items may be blessed when acquired for the first time in some Dungeons. This includes ground spawns, Shops, and Monster Houses.
- Inserting an item into a Blessed Jar will bless it, unless it's cursed. In which case the curse will be removed.
- Offering an item up to a Dragon Orb
/
may bless it.
- Some monsters or monster families may bless an item, such as the Bless Pitcher Plant
, or consuming Herb Hater meat
/
.
