===Aggressive Kecleon===
It is possible to perform a glitch with the Kecleon Shop where the Theft sequence will not occur, however, the player must not have stolen any other items for this glitch to properly carry out. The player must have one or more of the following to perform the glitch:

* {{RescueTeam|Blast Seed}}
* A Pokémon with the move {{RescueTeam|Explosion}}

Should the player eat a Blast Seed in front of the Kecleon, or the Pokémon with the move Explosion use the move around the Kecleon, then the Kecleon will become aggressive. However, the theft sequence will not occur and any of the above scenarios will not be triggered. It should be noted that the Kecleon, whilst still somewhat powerful, is significantly weaker than those that gather during the 'Thief' sequence. The Kecleon can also not be recruited and does not show up on the "Recruitment Search".

However, it should be noted that, upon walking on top of the items, they will still need purchasing, but because the Kecleon has turned hostile, you cannot pay. It is best at this point to defeat the Kecleon whilst still on the mat as, if you step off the mat, the 'Thief' sequence will play.

===Temporary Ally===
If the {{RescueTeam|Team Leader}} is wearing a {{RescueTeam|Pass Scarf}} and passes an attack onto a {{RescueTeam|Kecleon}}, they will begin to follow them around as a temporary team member would. They'll attack hostile {{RescueTeam|Pokémon}} on the floor. While they won't appear in the menu, they can't be directly attacked. They won't follow the leader to the next floor, and can't be spoken to. If the leader tries to switch places with them, onto a tile Kecleon can't normally walk on, such as {{RescueTeam|Magma}}, they'll be referred to as a teammate.<ref>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uziKzygQpT4 "Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Kecleon Recruitment Glitch" by PMDGang on YouTube</ref>

Similar to the previous glitch, the items still need to be purchased but due to the circumstances, the player is unable to, so if the player were to pick up the item and step off the mat, then the Thief scenario will once again resume.

It is also interesting to note that if you have a partner and set them to "Wait there", the Kecleon will direct itself towards that partner and stay rather fixed on them. Also, attempts to hitting or talk to the Kecleon while this is happening will result in nothing.

===Infinitely Selling Items===
The player can sell Kecleon the same items indefinitely by simply placing an item in the shop, Quicksaving, restarting the game, and talking to Kecleon over and over. Kecleon will continue to buy the same item every time. When loading the game right after a Quicksave, the money given by Kecleon is multiplied by how many times the game was Quicksaved. For example, if the player quicksaves once, when selling the item for the first time after loading the game, it is as if two of the same item are being sold, and if the player quicksaves twice before selling, it's as if three of the same item are being sold, and subsequent times, it's as if two of the same item are sold.<ref>https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jhlpNFbBJoE</ref>

For the lore page, see Pkmn:Development Oversights.

Development Oversights entails spelling errors, translation errors, bugs, glitches, and other aspects of unintended gameplay. This page covers Game Boy Advance/Nintendo DS Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Team.

Dungeon RNG Manipulation

See also: Dungeon RNG Manipulation

Returning to the game after Quicksaving inside a dungeon sets the RNG seed to 1, making all the following floors have the same layouts, Pokémon, and items, for each dungeon. As long as the player gives the same inputs with the same Pokémon with the same moves and stats, the game's behavior is predictable, making it possible to map routes to complete hard dungeons, recruit certain Pokémon, or find rare items.[1]

In Blue Rescue Team, Quicksaving is enough to perform this trick, however, in Red Rescue Team, it is necessary to reset the game as well before continuing. Some floors have differences between Red and Blue Rescue Team, but are consistent depending on the version.

Kecleon Bugs

Aggressive Kecleon

It is possible to perform a glitch with the Kecleon Shop where the Theft sequence will not occur, however, the player must not have stolen any other items for this glitch to properly carry out. The player must have one or more of the following to perform the glitch:

Temporary Ally

If the Team Leader is wearing a Pass Scarf and passes an attack onto a Kecleon, they will begin to follow them around as a temporary team member would. They'll attack hostile Pokémon on the floor. While they won't appear in the menu, they can't be directly attacked. They won't follow the leader to the next floor, and can't be spoken to. If the leader tries to switch places with them, onto a tile Kecleon can't normally walk on, such as Magma, they'll be referred to as a teammate.[2]

Infinitely Selling Items

The player can sell Kecleon the same items indefinitely by simply placing an item in the shop, Quicksaving, restarting the game, and talking to Kecleon over and over. Kecleon will continue to buy the same item every time. When loading the game right after a Quicksave, the money given by Kecleon is multiplied by how many times the game was Quicksaved. For example, if the player quicksaves once, when selling the item for the first time after loading the game, it is as if two of the same item are being sold, and if the player quicksaves twice before selling, it's as if three of the same item are being sold, and subsequent times, it's as if two of the same item are sold.[3]

Recruitment Bugs

Boss HP Glitch

First shared on: August 24, 2017 on The Spinda Cafe Discord

If the player places down a Reviver Seed and a boss Pokémon walks over it, if they're defeated a second time and recruited, they'll have nearly double the HP they would have otherwise.[4][5] This works on every recruitable boss in the game.[6][7]

Save Deletion

The Japanese version 1.0 release of Blue Rescue Team will delete the save data of GBA games in the second slot of Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite consoles.

Soft Locks

If running is interrupted while using R to move diagonally, the game will soft lock until R is released.[8]

Graphical Glitches

While in dungeons, the game might occasionally display Pokémon sprites incorrectly, and parts of a Pokémon's sprites may appear in place of another.[9]

Translation Issues

English

  • Special Band (Japanese: スペシャルリボン) is actually a Ribbon.
  • Stamina Band (Japanese: スタミナリボン) is actually a Ribbon.
  • Bounce Band (Japanese: おはじきリボン) is actually a Ribbon.

Italian

  • Because the Italian translation is based on the English version, the Special Band, Stamina Band, and Bounce Band issues also apply. They were fixed in Nintendo Switch Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX.
  • Because Friend Bow is called a Bow rather than a Ribbon in the English translation, the word Bow was interpreted as a weapon rather than clothing, resulting in the name Arcoamico. The name was kept for later games, until it was changed to Fioccoamico in Nintendo Switch Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX.

German

  • Text for the move Assist was not translated and remained in English, using the word "chose".[10]
