Abilities (Japanese: 特性, Ability) are a game mechanic in Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon. They give Pokémon further powers beyond those of Moves, such as inflicting a Status Condition, reducing or increasing damage dealt by moves or restoring HP in certain situations. Abilities are determined by the species of the Pokémon. While some Pokémon species have two Abilities instead of just one, a single Pokémon can't have both at the same time. A Pokémon with two possible abilities can swap between the two at Hawlucha's Slam School. Abilities can temporarily change while in a dungeon, even including abilities that the Pokémon wouldn't otherwise be able to have.
