Level (Japanese: レベル) is a Stat in Template:GameTitle. It contributes to the attack calculation of Shiren, along with Shiren's Strength and Weapon Strength, allowing him to deal more damage to monsters.

Shiren's Level is reset to 1 at the start of every adventure. It is determined by Shiren’s Experience, and will increase HP by 3~7 randomly for every level gained, as well as decrease HP by 3~7 randomly for every level lost. The required Experience for Levels increases exponentially, so it will generally be more difficult to gain Levels as players progress through dungeons. If Shiren Levels up or down directly, his Experience will be set to the exact experience required for the Level in the case of an increase or 1 Experience point before the next Level in the case of a decrease.

Decreasing Level

Bitter Herb and Seed of Misfortune will decrease Shiren’s Level by 1 and 3 respectively. Seed of Ill Luck will reduce Shiren’s level to 1. Rotten Riceballs have a chance of reducing Level by 1, amongst 4 other possible effects. If a bolt from a Staff of Misfortune is reflected by an Air Devil Family monster, Shiren’s Level will be reduced by 1. Level is decreased by 1 when Shiren is targeted by the special attack of Twisty Hani monsters. Level 3 and 4 Skull Mage monsters can cast a bolt that reduces Shiren’s Level by 1 and 3 respectively, amongst 5 and 4 other possible effects. The minimum Level is 1.

Increasing Level

Happiness Herb and Angel Seed will increase Shiren’s Level by 1 and 3 respectively. The maximum Level is 99.

Effect On Other Entities

Effect On Monsters

Number of Levels

Most monsters have 4 Levels, with Boss-Type monsters, with the Bowboy Family, Baby Tank Family, Fluffy Bunny, Inferno Family, and Kigny Family monsters as exceptions. Boss-type monsters and Fluffy Bunny only have one Level. Bowboy and Baby Tank have 2 Levels each, but the families of Bowboy, Baby Tank, and Popster Tank level up and down into each other, such that a Bowboy can level up 7 times into a Cranky Tank - the Hen similarly levels up and down with Great Hens. Kigny and Inferno have 99 Levels and 5 color pallets.

General Mechanics

Monsters will Level up when defeating other entities - all monsters, save Pickpocket, can defeat another monster. Should they Level up or down, their HP value will reset to the value of the monster's new Level unless it is a Kigny or Inferno, and they will be rid of any Status Condition. The Dead Soldier Family can possess monsters to increase their Level by 1. Monsters other than an unsealed Inferno will level up by 1 and 3 from thrown Happiness Herbs and Angel Seeds. The Staff of Happiness will increase Level by 1 unless the bolt hits an unsealed Air Devil monster. Monsters other than an unsealed Inferno will Level down by 1, 3, and 98 respectively from thrown Bitter Herbs, Seeds of Misfortune, and Seeds of Ill Luck. If monsters are targeted by the special attack of Twisty Hanis, they will Level down by 1. Bolts from Level 3 and 4 Skull Mages Level down by 1 and 3 respectively, unless targeting an unsealed Air Devil.

Special Mechanics

Some monsters have unique Level Mechanics. Green Slime monsters Level up from a Rusty Trap, Polygon Spin monsters Level up from Hunger Trap, Rice Baby monsters Level up from Riceball Trap, and Curse Girl monsters Level up from Curse Trap if Shiren is a Trap Master. Dragon Herbs, the Firepuff Family and Dragon Family's fire will Level up Infernos. Kigny Seeds Level up Kignys. Great Hens will Level down into Hens at 15 or lower HP.

Effect On Characters

Most characters don’t have Levels, but Pekeji has 8 Levels, that increase on each adventure he's recruited on. His HP increases, with his Attack and decreasing rate of Fullness decreasing. At level 8, he will no longer hit Shiren or ask for Riceballs, and will have a chance of scoring Critical Hits. The Borg Mamel has 99 Levels, that increase by 1 when throwing the desired item at it, increasing its stats.
