Borg Mamel (Japanese: ボーグマムル) is a robotic Mamel ally in Shiren:Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer. It's encountered at "The Other Side of the World", where it can be recruited. Afterward, it'll appear in Canyon Hamlet where it can be recruited for adventures.

Unlocking the Borg Mamel

The Other Side of the World

After successfully clearing all 99 floors of the Final Puzzle dungeon, Shiren ends up in the room at the other side of the world, a place where humans and monsters (in special: Mamels) coexist in peace. Talk to the white Mamel at the north side of the room to find out that it is a bored Borg Mamel. The Borg Mamel acknowledges that Shiren is indeed a strong wanderer and asks to join him. Make sure to take it with you before leaving the room with the teleportation device. You can give it a name as well. From now on, at the beginning of each adventure, the Borg Mamel will be sitting in Canyon Hamlet and will join your party if you talk to it.

Leveling up the Borg Mamel

The Borg Mamel starts out somewhat weaker than your other party members, but if you talk to it, it will tell you to throw a specific item at it. Do so, and it will level up. A number will be added to the Mamel's name to indicate its level. Just like the Kignys, each level increases the Mamel's HP and damage, while the defense seems to stay at a low level permanently. Damage seems to be around 5+(level/2), while the hp maxes out at 60. The Mamel will stay at his best level even if it dies or gets hit by a leveling spell. Throwing the wrong item at the Mamel will result in it saying so, which can get very annoying, especially if the Mamel is walking towards an arrow shooting monster, as it will complain about the wrong item type for every arrow shot at it.

Items required to level up the Mamel

The items required to level up the Borg Mamel are identical for everyone. Note that the thrown item mustn't be cursed, unless a cursed item is requested. If the Mamel is asking for something of the form "[Mark] ENTRANCE item type", you have to throw that item type with the specified mark melded onto it, so number 30 is a plated Polearm. The plural on the first items indicates that any item of that type will do. You'll still need only one. For scrolls, you can use a Blank Scroll with the right type written on it. You need to have read a scroll of that type before you can write one of the same type.
