Types (Japanese: タイプ) are a game mechanic in Template:GameTitle. Each Pokémon has one or two types, and each move (except for Attack and Struggle) has one type.

When attacking a Pokémon with a move, the type of the move affects the damage done to the target.

Special Immunities and Resistances

Grass-type Grass type: Won't get the Leech Seed status and evades powder moves.

Fire-type Fire type: Won't get the burn status and receives less explosion damage.

Electric-type Electric type: Won't get the paralysis status.

Ice-type Ice type: Won't get the frozen status.

Poison-type Poison type: Won't get the poisoned or badly poisoned statuses.

Ghost-type Ghost type: Won't get the stuck status.

Steel-type Steel type: Won't get the poisoned or badly poisoned statuses.

Additional Immunities

Grass-type Grass type: Immune to spore moves and the ability Effect Spore.

Fire-type Fire type: Immune to the Sea of Fire caused by Fire Pledge and Grass Pledge.

Ghost-type Ghost type: Immune to trapping abilities such as Arena Trap, Shadow Tag and Magnet Pull.

Special Abilities

Water-type Water type: Can move on the water surface but can't move to certain places.

Flying-type Flying type: Can move on the water surface or in the air but can't move to certain places.
