The Team leader (Japanese: ???) refers to the Pokémon in charge of any given Rescue Team in Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red and Blue Rescue Team. Initially, the player is in control of the Hero, who's the leader of Team Pokémon. The player-controlled leader sleeps in the Rescue Team Base.

Before the credits roll, the player cannot change the leader. The leader is always the Hero. However, after the credits have rolled, the player can change the team leader. The player controls the team leader, while the original team leader returns to its Friend Areas. The original team leader is still on the team member list, so the player has to make them Stand By if they don't want it on the team.

A menu should appear. Select 'Join Team'.
Open the menu again. Select 'Make Leader'.
