Community:Shiren 1 DS Stream Village Shopping Spree

Background Information

The Town Shops located in the Underground Stream Village holds 6 Items which are reshuffled from all potential merchandise when the town is entered. Many of these items are very useful and seldom found elsewhere, which the player may want to take advantage of.

All the items that are sold at Stream Village are found Town Shops#Underground Stream Village.

This guide will detail how to effectively make the most of your trips between floors 21 and 22 of Table Mountain.

Gameplay Mechanics

See: Backtracking
After the 15th floor of Table Mountain, Shiren can no longer go 'Back' to previous areas via the stairs. However, Pitfall Trap cause Shiren to descend a floor when triggered on floors 18 - 25, allowing Stream Village to be visited multiple times.

• Shiren cannot visit towns during Rescues.

Revisiting Stream Village

This requires a Pitfall Trap on floor 22 of Table Mountain. This may generate by chance but it is much more reliable to prepare so you can locate or produce them yourself.

Locating Pitfall Traps

• A Trap Armband is non-consumable and will allow Shiren to see Pitfall Traps if there are any.
• A Herb of Sight can grant Shiren Clear-Sighted to see traps, but will wear off if transforming into a Monster on the same floor.
• Consuming Mecharoid Family File:Mecharoid.png Monster Meat will allow Shiren to see traps, as well as create new ones. See: Stream Village Shopping Spree#Creating Pitfall Traps.

Walking over the entire floor to find traps is a less convenient option, though Riceballs are common at the Stream Village Shop.

Creating Pitfall Traps

• As a Mecharoid, Shiren can use a special ability to create random traps on the floor tile below himself. Only traps that can spawn naturally can be created, which include Pitfall Traps. Move from square to square creating traps until a Pitfall Trap is created.
  • Alternatively, allow a Mecharoid to follow Shiren, occasionally hitting the player but creating traps when in rooms. Slow them down with a Staff of Sloth to make them more tolerable.
• Reading a Scroll of Traps will create 29 - 30 new traps on the floor. This does not guarantee that one will be a Pitfall Trap. You will still need to locate the trap if available.
• Triggering a Multiplication Trap will spawn 25 - 30 new traps on the floor.
• Breaking a Bottomless Jar will spill a few Pitfall Traps onto the floor as long as there is space for them.

Be aware that the maximum number of traps placed on the floor is 99.

Note: Storing traps picked up within the inventory using a Trap Armband is not viable, as all stored traps will become Broken Traps upon entering Stream Village

Useful Supplies

Items to bring along in preparation to make the most of a Stream Village trip. Alternatively, along the way you can intentionally die, and allow a friend to deliver items as part of a Wanderer Rescue].

General Items

A large sum of Gitan. Unless you want to Thievery from the shop, which can be risky and time-consuming, bring at least 50,000 - 200,000 Gitan, as most items cost above 5,000.
Strong Weapon and Shield: with and seals to protect against Rusty Traps and to defeat monsters easily.

Armband of Sight: to evade monsters and Monster Houses, also to look for Dungeon Shops and Vault.

Jar of Holding: preferably with 5 spaces each to carry all the items bought from the shop.

Staff of Stability: to protect Jars from breaking due to Stumble Traps.

Any items that may be useful in the event of an emergency or Monster House which may include: Chiropractic Jars, Air Devil Family or Herb of Revival.

Items for efficiency

Bufu's Staff: with a large number of uses to turn Mecharoid Family Monsters into Monster Meat instantly. More useful than a Bufu Rune on a Weapon.

Trap Armband: for scouting the floor for Pitfall Traps, without having to consume a Mecharoid Meat.

Discount Armband: Items bought will only cost half the regular price when equipped.

Additional goals

• Strengthening Jars will continue to function every time the Shiren exits Stream Village. If you can keep it safe, take it with you during the shopping spree to upgrade some items or Gitan.
  • Extraction Scroll and Blank Scrolls can be bought at the shop, allowing you to increase the uses of your Bufu's Staff, to continue shopping.
• Schubell and Menbell can spawn on floor 22 of Table Mountain, allowing Shiren to obtain almost every monster, including those in the Taur Family which have a chance to drop a Minotaur's Axe upon defeat.
• Other monsters that spawn on floor 22 can be farmed for their Meat, including the Schubell Family, Curse Girl Family and the Air Devil Family
