The Spearfish (Japanese: しおいやん) Monster Family is a recurring group of four monsters in the Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer series. It made its debut in Nintendo 64 Mystery Dungeon: Shiren the Wanderer 2 - Shiren's Castle and the Oni Invasion in (2000), making it part of the Third Batch of Monster Families(NT) - This name was created by editors to describe something lacking a name.. Its most recent appearance was in Nintendo Switch/Steam Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island in 2024.

The Spearfish Family consists of:

  1. Spearfish (Japanese: オトト兵)
  2. Lt. Spearfish (Japanese: オトト軍曹)
  3. Cap. Spearfish (Japanese: オトト大将)
  4. Adm. Spearfish (Japanese: オトト元帥)

Biography

Characteristics

An Aquatic-type monster akin to merfolk. Not only can they traverse both land and water, but they become stronger and recover lost health with every turn they spend in the water. The more powerful forms of this monster will strategically retreat to the water to regain their health if given the chance.[1]
