Monsters

In Shiren 1, there are creatures roaming dungeons which will attack the player known as Monsters. Most monsters target and chase the player when in sight, attacking when they are next to Shiren. Monsters cannot be talked to like Characters and when defeated, will reward Shiren with a fixed amount of Experience, and may drop Items on defeat.

Monster Familiies

Monsters are grouped into families of ascending levels of similar monsters will different coloration. There are 51 monster families in the Nintendo DS port of Shiren 1. Monsters can increase or decrease in level depending on their current, becoming a stronger or weaker counterpart from their monster family.
