Adventures (Japanese: ???) are the core of the play time in Nintendo Switch/Steam Shiren the Wanderer: The Mystery Dungeon of Serpentcoil Island. An Adventure begins in Shukuba Beach, or, depending on the type of Adventure, when a dungeon is entered, and ends when a dungeon (excluding Hidden Routes) is left, either in failure or success. The amount of Adventures the player had in the main mode of the game is counted on the Top Menu, and the Adventure Logs also count the visits to each individual dungeon.

Types of Adventure

There are three different kinds of Adventure: regular Adventures in the main mode of the game, Rescue, and Parallel Play. They are independent of one another, and each can be paused and resumed at any moment. Things obtained or unlocked during a type of Adventure cannot be sent to a different type of Adventure, and Rescue and Parallel Play Adventures are temporary.

Consequences of failing an Adventure

When an Adventure results in failure, all items and Gitan currently held by the player are lost. Lost Weapons and Shields, whether they are lost through failing an Adventure or other means, will appear at the Unsuspicious Shop if the catalog hasn't already been filled with items.

Adventure Result

The Adventure Result is a screen displayed at the end of an Adventure, explaining what caused the Adventure to end, and showing the player's stats, equipment, current inventory, current Gitan, message history for the current floor, play time for the Adventure, total turns taken during the Adventure, and total amount of monsters beaten during the Adventure.
